Turkey – a brief summary

of civilizations, the place where the eastern civilization meets the western
civilization. Turkey is surrounded by sea on three sides and has some 81
distinct provinces. The capital is Ankara while Istanbul is the heart of
Turkey. Turkey is the place to go when you are in need to wind down and
taking a break from the rush of the world. With its spectacular mosques and
castles, breathtaking natural beauty and hospitable people Turkey is truly a
must go holiday destination. For history buffs Turkey is a real treasure
trove with many ancient ruins and relics dating back to the ancient Greeks
that can be found all over western and southern Turkey. The Muslim Ottomans,
who were the rulers of Turkey less than 100 years ago, have also left their
mark on the land. Marks of the Ottoman Empire can be found in and around
Istanbul. There are also many strange and different places to visit such as
the calcium deposits in Pamukkale, whose name means cotton castle. Also in
Turkey there are Turkish Baths in which a person can relax and unwind. This
is a fun part of your turkey holiday. Tea is much loved by the people of
Turkey and the Turkish national drink called Raki is served with water and
ice. Overall Turkey is the place for everyone to visit and enjoy.
